TN: 2002 Grans-Fassian Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese

  • 2002 Grans-Fassian Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (7/24/2009)
Popped and poured - somewhat simple nose of peaches and wet slate. Nicely concentrated on the palate - white peaches, honeydew mellon and mangos with nice zippy acidity. Some minerality worked it’s way into the mid-palate with more air. Great summer sippin’ QPR ($10), with enough complexity to keep your interest! (90 pts.)

Enjoyed with fish tacos and fresh mango salsa, this is a perfect example of why I love German Riesling so much: great quality/complexity for a cheapo price. I picked this up on WineBid for $10 early last year and this was my last and best bottle. The pairing with mango salsa was perfect - yet another reason why I buy so much of this stuff!
