OMFG - Stewed, rotten tomatoes and grain alcohol on the nose. The “wine” never hit my mouth - it went straight down the drain… Truly hideous.
I guess irony is everything, because RMP’s wine of the day on ebob is the 2003 Cab from the same producer and vineyard. Thank god I have none of that in my cellar.
Oh, yeah. This wine got 96 points with a drinking window of 2007-2027 from The Palate. ![rofl [rofl.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/a/a7452fcd8e675af869f8da01174474a545b03944.gif)
Steve - I sold all of my 01 and 02 Clarendon Hills’ wines b/c they didn’t seem to be headed in the right direction…disappointing especially given the price of these.
Me, too. I held this one back just to see what would happen. ![[head-bang.gif] headbang](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/b/b1cd199e4b2b2988b5107c3c9598fd28dc92a776.gif)
I had a collection of Clarendon’s 02 grenache wines. The first one I tasted was a real wow experience so I loaded up.
After that first bottle they just got stranger and poorer. To my tastes they were a poster child for what can go horribly wrong with such over the top wines.
But even as mine fell apart, others on ebob were still saying very nice things about the 01 and 02 Clarendons.
