TN: 2002 Chevillon NSG Les Chaignots

2002 Chevillon NSG Les Chaignots

This is an intense Vosne Romanee wrapped in a little bit of rusticity. Not much rusticity however.
The core is all about bright Vosne fruit and spice to me. The entry and finish show just a hair of rusticity but that adds charm. This is my favorite part of NSG along with Boudots. Great year. Great producer.
AMAZING!
(BTW, I know this is not from Vosne Romanee)

so a NSG acting like a Aux Brulees?

Pretty darn close.

i have yet any Chevillion bottle disappoint me but i skip marginal vintages in Burgundy…

I have a few bottles of this particular wine from the '05 vintage resting in the cellar - I hope mine show as well as yours did tonight once I eventually pull a cork.

Don, I’ve got some cases of '02 Chevillon Roncieres, Pruliers, Cailles, Vaucrains, and Bourgogne rouge idling away in off site storage. What’s your verdict on whether to start drinking now or wait a while on the Chevillions based on this bottle?

Mike,
The Bourgogne is absolutely ready to go.
The Cailles is probably like my Chaignots and starting to drink well and will hold.
The Vaucrains is going to take some time. That is always one of the very toughest and structured.
The other two I have no idea.
Hope this helps.
Merry Christmas to you and all the others here.
Don

Thanks, Don. Joyeux Noël, mon ami!!
