TN: 2002 Burguet Gevrey Mes Favorites VV

Medium to dark ruby. After two hours of air, an expressive nose of earth, minerals and ripe dark cherries. Still primary and showing no signs of maturity. Dense and concentrated with a pronounced taste of earth and ripe dark fruit that stains the palate on a long finish. A taste of menthol sneaks in at the end. In excellent years this is of 1er cru quality, and the 2002 appears to surpass its village level designation. Since 1999, a must buy for me in most vintages.

Spot on notes. I’ve had about four bottles of this vintage. Consistent each time.

I haven’t had the 02 for a few years, but a recently consumed bottle of the '99 was shockingly good.

I love this.
