TN: 2002 Billecart-Salmon Cuvée Nicolas Francois

Disgorged 1/16
Medium brass
A fresh aroma plethora of candy apple, citrus, caramel, high-toned oxidative goodness, nuts, baked bread
Vibrant, juicy acidity twists and turns through the extract of stones, minerals, shell…intermixed with deepened fall harvest fruits
Obvious is a sense of youth with experience; a spring-fall relationship endearing
A long, serious finish that widens across the palate, a full bounty
A contemplative Champagne

Sounds delicious. Billecart makes such lovely wines up and down the range. It surprises me they aren’t discussed and coveted more.

Billecart-Salmon really nailed the 2002 vintage with this wine. I’ve been recklessly decimating my formerly ample stash.

Bought two bottles of this earlier in the year.

I enjoyed one and gave the other away as a gift to a client who let me stay at his slopeside condo in Park City. He then told me that he and his wife didn’t drink wine, but that they would open it with some friends who did.

I immediately wished that I had kept that bottle and gave them some Veuve instead .

Ouch.

Anyone know if/when a 2008 would come out? Feel like the 06 and 07 both came out early last year.
