When I wanted to go for 2001 Bâtard-Montrachet - Domaine Leflaive, my wife overruled me and said “Et si on prenait le 2002 Bienvenues, plutot?”…
Well, she was right. That bottle was stunning. Worth the Grand Cru status from nose to palate to finish. There’s a clear “Domaine Leflaive” mark on the nose with much purity and hints of white flowers and white fruits, a touch of wet stones. The palate is very intense with a good “punch” but also good minerality and great acid spine which really carries the wine… the finish was just a call for another glass.
This wine is built for food and it did magnificently with the pretty complex lobster dish that we had with it.
This wine got a couple of "wow"s from me and my better half.
