2002 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Belles Soeurs Shea Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Yamhill County (1/7/2010)
Cork soaked a third of the way up (must have got hot somewhere).
Label says “Sourced from Shea Vineyard’s Block 29, a 3.3 acre parcel of non-irrigated, own-rooted Pinot Noir” 15.3%
Good deep red color (little bit hazy) all the way to the edge. Oak is not the dominate olfactory sense like my last note in 06. Nice nose of strawberry, cherry, spice, with a little earth/dirt. Big fruit flavors of strawberry, black cherry, baking spices…and some cola. Good acidity. The finish echos the fruit profile (with a touch of tartness) and spice, with some fine tannins. Seems like this is just entering in to its drinking window. I have a bunch of 02 Oregon Pinots and look forward to drinking them in the coming years… (91 pts.)
