2002 Weingut Johann Peter Reinert: Kanzemer Altenberg Riesling Auslese*
I bought some of these bottles several years ago. I believe that this producer no longer makes wine as that vineyard has been sold. Chilled down nicely and served on a warm London summer afternoon. Pale yellow. An expressive nose of wet slate and minerality with a hint of tropical fruit. The mouthfeel is a seamless silky ride of fresh citrus, pineapple and grapefruit, with minerality and with a fine thread of honey running thoughout. More Mosel magic from this benchmark former producer.

Nice stuff. Recently had an '05 from Reinert:

2005 Weingut Johann Peter Reinert Wiltinger Schlangengraben Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (6/15/2016)
How is it that there are no notes on this yet? The nose is a little reserved, but shows classic notes of petrol, some slate, and ginger/spice (boytritis?) mixed in with the fruit. Green apple, honey pear, and lemon dominate the palate. Nicely tart & crisp acidity countering the sweetness making for a long tasty finish. Makes you wonder if it can get any better. It seems to have the acidity and sugar to last a while longer. (86 pts.)

The producer is still active.
Here’s the website.
It seems that Moore Brothers imports the wine. But Moore Bros. generally sells their producers only in their own stores. And their brochure says the production is very small. That may explain why it’s not a familiar name and there aren’t any CT notes.
I got the bottle I tried at Moore Brothers in Pennsauken. While it was good, there are better in roughly the same price range so it didn’t make the rebuy list.
Thanks for the info chaps.
