I take the poetic waxing not so seriously, what John wrote is to me not a lot different than many other bloggers or reviewers, they take the information given to them by the winery, and put it into a context. I value Johns tasting notes as he focuses on an area i am very interested in, and because he more often than not is aligned with my palate preferences. Maybe this write-up was a bit more lyrical than others, and maybe he should not have copy-pasted headlines from their website, but i dont think that he unduly was promoting Antinori as if he was on the payroll.
My bad, meant to say CCR regarding the Marchese, I’m getting careless. In any event, you’ve always loved the Tignanello but it has never quite grabbed me the same way, although it has been years since I last had one.
Mike, did you have the 1982 and 1985 at Aris’?
I brought the 1990.
Good times.

It was the ultimate, for sure!
My wife has always loved Tignanello and we drank our last 85 last year. Still have a couple of 90’s. I was always a fan have the Marchese Riservas also-they age well at least the older ones did. Not sure about the style these days. It is sad how these wines have fallen somewhat out of favor though that may be my perception. They certainly don’t get the pop they used to in the wine press as attention has turned to the smaller producers.
I don’t see a tasting note. Is there an actual tasting note?

Tim, the note is on my website. I stopped including links in my posts. You can use the WWW icon to easily get to it. It’s still in the front page.
