2001 Sherwin Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (7/11/2009)
Last night with boneless NY Strips from the grocery store. Popped about 2 hours prior to drinking (took a small sip to see if it was corked then left it uncorked). In the glass this was drinking pretty fantastic. Tannins have really mellow since 2004 when I first purchased. Fruit is seemless, blackberry/cassis and a hint of tobacco leaf on the back end. Good acidity. It’s pretty balanced and even a little more understated than I thought it would be. Really enjoyable and definitely in a good drinking place. (92 pts.)
