TN: 2001 Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses

  • 2001 Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (8/30/2009)
    I haven’t had much experience with Jadot…
I was shocked at how fruit forward this wine was, especially considering the vintage. This wine is wide open and drinking quite young. Were I served this blind I think I would have guessed California pinot from a recent vintage. Having said that, there was plenty of structure and acidity to give this a backbone that will see it through to a ripe old age. I really enjoyed this even though it is unlike anything I’ve had thus far from Musigny. Stellar! Bring forth the Jadot! (94 pts.)

So many good 2001s out there to drink these days.

Wish I had more to sell.

One of my favorite vineyards in Burgundy…Sounds like Jadot did well in 01’.

Dan: 2001 is turning out to be quite the vintage! I wish I had more to drink!

Leah: Chambolle Musigny is a favorite of mine as well, (although my list of favorites is pretty long. blush )

Ed,
Thanks for the note on this one, really good to know. I’ve had a number of '01 Jadots, which I’ve really enjoyed, but never the '01 Amoureuses. But your impression doesn’t surprise me as their Chambolle holdings are great. I had the '01 Musigny once and was really impressed.

Cheers,
-Robert

It’s a really nice wine. I have one more bottle, wish I had more.

Folks here certainly turn around my perceived wisdom on aging wines. First notes on 10 year old Beaujolais. Next opening top premier cru Burgundy in its early adolesence.

Well, I can’t open what I don’t have so there you have it… young Burgundy it is! [wink.gif]
