TN: 2001 Kilikanoon Oracle Shiraz (with D’Artagnan sausages)

TN: 2001 Kilikanoon Oracle Shiraz. Bought a few years after I first got into wines in the rage of Aussie-Parker Madness. (Remember that…). I probably have 20-25 bottles of various refugees from that era left in the cellar to see if any become swans for kicks. Tonight, I am listening to what the Oracle has to say. Wide open, but opens further with an hour of air, Lighter on its feet than I expected, but still huge in the mouth (Trump “HUGE”). If you like the style, this is made well enough, but I simply do not. I don’t like Slurpies anymore either, and this is, for me, far too 7-Eleven. Went fine with game sausages with peppers and onion, but even then too much jam. All in…blech. Cellared since release. Parker…”94+.” Was this Parker’s score or that moronic doctor friend he had join him. Anyway… $31. 72 points.

D’Artagnan sausages – feral boar (fine but dry), lamb merguez (fricken awesome) and venison with pork and cherries (lovely).

Thanks for your honesty.

BTW, I’ve always considered feral hogs (in this area you might find a domesticated/Russian Boar hybrid, but in CA the real RB is supposed to be prevalent) dry meat, more conducive to braising than roasts or sausage.
