TN: 2001 Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese

After having a few bottles last summer/fall I bought out the remaining few from my local wine store. How I wish I had more.

Nice petrol on the nose, far from overpowering. Very light mouthfeel. Well-balanced with nice acidity. Pears and lychee are the dominant flavors. Decent finish.

Previously I had paired this wine with various Asian dinners. Being that it’s February in Wisconsin I decided to pair it with smoked pork chops and sauerkraut. It turned out to be a great match. Amazing that a wine can be so spot on with such diverse foods.
