TN: 2001 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett

2001 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (4/24/2018)
From good though not glacial storage, this was thrilling wine that was in the early stages of maturity with years and years to go. Brilliant acidity, lemon and apple fruit and distinct, salty minerality on the finish made for a complete, benchmark Kabinett. Drink now and for twenty years or more. This had the balance to be immortal.

That was my first ever wine with the old Prum stench.

There is essentially zero sponti aroma left. It’s pure Sonnenuhr.

Found a few of these and drank over the last few years. A wonderfully balanced and pleasurable wine. Wish I had more left and bags of life left it appeared.

Ugh… remove from cull list. At this pace, I’m never going to slim down.

These were awesome younger too! I remember how they made my tongue tingle

Hm, wish I’d bought some Kabinett. Just recently opened my first Prüm 01 Spät- and Auslesen, and they are not really ready, IMHO.

It’s hard to go astray, maintaining a cache of Kabinett in the cellar.

I was thinking exactly this when I first read this note. I always bought Spatlese and Auslese back then, and now wish I had some Kabinett.
