While picking up my blowout Leclerc today at Dee Vine, I saw a couple bottles of this on the shelf for $15.00 and grabbed them. Its not the steal of the century but this wine reminds me why I love burgundies - and what lightness and beauty that can be found and enjoyed even at this level.

2001 Hugues & Yves de Suremain Mercurey 1er Cru Les Crêts - France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey 1er Cru (11/6/2009)
Lovely, limpid pale red color. Great pinot nose of cherries, earth, spice and minerals. After a while it does show a whiff of brett, making it smell a little rustic. Light cherry taste becoming earthy and foursquare on the mid-palate but with a satisfactory spicy and tangy fruit finish. A real delight to drink. Very Good.
