2001 Edi Simcic Duet - Slovenia, Primorska, Goriška Brda (6/8/2009)
Nondescript nose with generic plum fruit and mocha treatment effect. Bright fruit, more red than black. Medium body, medium definition. Slight coffee spicing from oak and curranty fruit finish. Not awful, made by formula, more modern than is my style and wholly boring. A big whatever.

Ha ha! “A big whatever” was my feeling, too.
A little disappointing, particularly for being from the Small Vineyards portfolio, which has some really outstanding properties in it. That may speak more to my high expectations of SV more than Simcic, but I haven’t found any of the Simcic wines compelling yet… but I’ll keep trying 'em!
Thanks for the note Andrew. This has been on my radar but I haven’t gotten one to try yet. i still probably will eventually out of curiosity but it doesn’t sound like it will be worht it.
I’m going to keep an eye out for your tasting notes. Seems we have crossed paths with a few oddball wines.
