TN: 2001 Domaine Truchot-Martin Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers

Have not had a Truchot in a while. Very hard to capture this wine in a note. By band dessinée, I mean the wine was drawn out in pencil forms, not layered painterly power like one would want from a Musigny or even Amoureuse. Maybe a failing, maybe part of the charm of Truchot.

Soft nose with slight violet aspect and iron edge. Very light in color and very, very light on the palate. Almost ethereal but having an underlying depth and persistence. All about edges and lines - fruit, iron, coffee-like, even sweet vodka. Band dessinée and elegant. Holds a very good bead for some hours.

Great pairing with veal porterhouse, french onion soup grits and green beans w/ a carob syrup sauce.

We left out CM Sentier when we did the Truchot verticals a few years back. It would be fun to try to do a second set of Truchot verticals using Sentier, Blanchard and Ruchottes.
