TN: 2001 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

  • 2001 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2/28/2011)
This is a carnivore’s wine. Meaty/ bloody nose with provencal herbs, lavender, and fruit wise on the darker side of CdP. Full bodied with great balance. Rich and deep with outstanding balance. This has it all, savory more so than fruit, but not to say that the fruit is slack. On the palate, more roasted meat, pepper and black fruits. Great depth and focus, with the Pegau stemmy tannins adding complexity and palate impact. . This is drinking right about perfect right now. At peak with plenty of time in hand. While I prefer a glass of the 03 over a glass of this right now, I am tempted to say I would drink a bottle of this over a blle of the 03. Delicious again. 95pts. (95 pts.)
