TN: 2001 Domaine de la Mordorée Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de la Reine des Bois

  • 2001 Domaine de la Mordorée Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de la Reine des Bois - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (7/6/2009)
WOW…this wine hasn’t aged a bit…dark, almost opaque, with a huge nose of kirsch, ripe plums, cherries, tar, and licorice…the palate is like a barrel sample, with earth, black plum, blackberry, licorice, black cherry, and a wall of tannin. Opened at 9:30am, and consumed at 9pm. If I had it to do again I would have decanted it for 24 hours. (98 pts.)

Thanks for the note. If the 07 is anything like this, my drinking buddies and I will be very happy.

If the 07 is anything like this it won’t be ready to drink til 2025!

Kris -thanks for the note…I have one lone bottle in the cellar - from the sounds of it, I’ll hold off a while longer!

A true baby, 12 hours of decanting…crazy!
