TN: 2001 Château La Conseillante (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol)

  • 2001 Château La Conseillante - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol (6/5/2009)
Fruit-dominated nose - not even a hint of oak-derived elements . Lovely plush texture. Cassis fruit, clay notes. Plenty of structure (and not soft at all), but incredibly flexible. Nice flavors, but this was all about texture.

Now that I look at, the note is pretty worthless - I am at a loss of word to describe the sheer pleasure of the texture of this wine.

Great wine. 2001 in Pomerol is underappreciated.

Superb wine. Neal Martin made the right call on it. I’ve thrown it in a tasting with the 2000 and most people thought it was the better wine (blind)…interesting.

The 2000 is better in my opinion. Just more stuff but still so refined and elegant. Bt if someone served me both blind I might be hardpressed.

Is that your shop that shows it for 80$ If so, I will order some.

Yep, that’s his store - Max introduced me to this wine. I too, believe this was underrated by Parker, but I want to see it in about 5 more years when I think it will be singing.

I bought mine for a bit less a few years back, but even I think that price is worth it. [wow.gif] A very nice, restrained, youthful Bordeaux that has a bright future. Happy to have 11 left!

I have almost bought this wine a bunch of times. I love La Conseillante and have so little of it.

Time to jump on the bandwagon, I guess. Certainly a lot of voices I respect on this thread (Skroback excepted  )

great wine VCC also very nice in 01

Quite an endorsement coming from you…cheap bastard! [taunt.gif]

Indeed! [cheers.gif]

Drank this again recently - still needs time, but coming along well.
