TN: 2001 Château La Confession

  • 2001 Château La Confession - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (4/30/2009)
Oh boy…didn’t like this much at all. Typical profile for an overblown fruit and oak monster. Can you say espresso, scorched earth, toffee, and caramel? It’s sweet and surprisingly flabby with a total lack of freshness and nuance. It’s in your face and unless you eat something like spicy barbequed ribs, this is just a total waste to drink. I am seriously considering selling all my wines in this style that I bought when I first got into wine. Monbousquet, Fombrauge, Confession, Beausejour Becot, Pavie Macquin, and the list goes on. Ugh.

I can-- it’s pronounced triple grande nonfat decaf no foam three pump caramel macchiato, extra hot. [wow.gif]

Not what I want in my wine glass either. Thanks for the notes.

Melissa. Brilliant analogy. The more I think about it, the more I think you’re spot on. Sad as it is.

Wow. I just poured one on Sunday evening and it was a joy to drink.
Different strokes I guess.
Trust me Tex would like it, sell them to him.
