TN:2001 Château Bastor-Lamontagne

2001 Château Bastor-Lamontagne- I am returning to this wine after a 2+ week hiatus in the fridge. .375 was half full, owned since release.
Color is lighter with a touch of the color enriching. Nose shows candied lemon, wax, rich, pink bubblegum or maybe hubbabubba, sweet with grated nutmeg, eggnog with a bourbon top note, touch flint/mineral in the background. Fairly straightforward but maybe just austere because I just continue to smell more depth. Palate shows great acid, fresh, honey, lemon, orange rind, vanilla, cream, not overblown or incredibly rich but showing really nice balance. I would assume this wine to be young but it has drying tannin without enough fruit to carry it through to it’s full maturity in my mind. I think this wine has at least 8 years to go but I would not test it much past that, but really nice none the less.
