Back to the subject bottle, the1964 and 1970 versions of Bodegas Riojanas Monte Real GR were always treats to drink.

The 1987 last month was spot on good. Still have 2 bottles left in the wine fridge.

Prepared in the venerable Spanish tradition, the delicious Callos dish made by dear sis-in-law @ibarramia, and served with dinner at home, paired so well with the classical 1987 Bodegas Riojanas Monte Real Gran Reserva, among other wines that were poured. The complexity of the 38 year-old Monte Real exuded smooth elegance, deft fruit layers with some acidity, leather, and a nice touch of savory note. [image]
