I’m actually a fan of the 2000. I’ve had several bottles and enjoyed them all.
Had the 99 this past weekend. Drinking perfectly. Have my last bottle in the queue. Good to hear the 00 is solid as I have a few of those, a well. VD is one of my favorite taditional producers of CdP.

My bottle had to be damaged. It was like an ashtray. I usually can tolerate VD. Um…maybe I should not use the initials on that wine.
I just opened one last week Phil and it was a solid if not spectacular wine. Very nice flavor but not a large framed or complex wine as is the 98 and 05, not that it has to be. I got no stink, volatility or CDP funk at all from the wine. Sure ain’t a Pegau.
I prefer the 2001 as the acidity is where I like it and Grenache can be way too susceptible to low acidity, especially near and around Avignon.
Glad your bottle was ok.
Lyle, actually I think you nailed it. The acidity of the wine was somewhat low, The mouthfeel was not what I expected. More like a routine CDP to me.
Acidity is integral to mouthfeel. If it is not there in sufficient amounts it just blurs everything.
