Bottle #2 of a 3 pack I picked up on closeout a while back. This took 4+ hours to open and really get going. A dark, tarry, deep wine, fairly muscular. Good concentration and full bodied without heaidng towards bitterness. A fair shake of tannin remains. Almost reminds me of Taurasi with it’s black as night / molten rocks character. But the fruit is too much toward plums, with bitter chocolate and baking bread which do bring you back to Tuscany despite the odd blend (Colorino and Merlot) which would be hard for anyone to peg. Overall this is a really nice bottle and it was singing with homemade pizza. I’ll give my last bottle at least another 3-5 years, this has a lot left in the tank.

One other thought – though this is a really nice bottle of wine, and was really well priced at $20, Castello della Paneretta’s Terrine is still a better wine for a Colorino blend. I think Paneretta gets overlooked far too often, their Quattrocentenario (pure Sangio) stands up to some of my favorite Brunelli very capably, adn the Terrine is an equally fantastic wine, if a different profile obviously.
