TN: 2000 Robert Mondavi Winery Fumé Blanc Reserve To-Kalon Vineyard

2000 Robert Mondavi Winery Fumé Blanc Reserve To-Kalon Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (10/12/2024)
Last bottle from many, and a great way to go out! It's wonderful! Reminds me of the brilliant 99 I Block had last year...total tropical exotics, with the fruit candied and dried...pineapple, peach, papaya, mango...LOTS of dried mango...freshened up nicely with lemon and ginger tarts...LOVE the banana waxiness, coconut oil...salty crushed rock minerality and dry extract. Then there's the friggin exotics, which are to die for! Lemongrass, white flowers, buttered rum spice, white cedar incense, banana cream pie...it goes on and on! Really happy with this bottle...fresh as can be for 24yrs old...but of course now bitter sweet that it's my last one, and probably never see another. An indelible impression for sure! (96 points)

Wow, super cool, a 24-yo US Sav Blanc!

I’ve never had this wine, sounds delish.

The few Mondavi Fume Blanc Reserves I’ve had have all been outstanding. Great to hear that they last this long.

The 2016 was exceptional. I think these are pretty hard to find. The I Block is winery only I have been told.

Bud! Like i said on Insta, congrats on going out with a bang! These are magical wines, especially with age on em. Just wish they were easier to source these days! Cheers brother!

The Reserve is now $95 at the winery, and who knows what the I Block is?

We love the frosted bottles and repurpose them as short term olive oil carafes.

We’re down to two bottles of this lovely wine- singletons of the ‘98 and ‘99. One, I forget which of the two, is a good bit darker than the other, so I have low expectations of it, but the other looks age appropriate and so I have very high hopes.

I was there in June and picked up a few. Sadly $150

Crazy, but likely worth it. My favorite Napa white.
