TN: 2000 R. López de Heredia Rioja Reserva Viña Bosconia

We had the '76, 81 and 91 a few days ago…let me see if I can find the notes I took. All were still showing really strong.

And I believe 2000 was considered a fairly disappointing vintage overall for Rioja, no?

Thanks Tom - the 2001 Reserva Bosconia doesnt suck either. Was the 2000 around $30, give or take $10?

Among my favorite producers outside of Burgundy and Champagne. (and outside Montelena/Ridge/Mondavi)

I love the Rosado, but admittedly, it’s a chameleon and certainly not for the timid. (not saying you are timid btw, just saying it’s not your typical Rose)

As your note expresses, my experience is that it’s anything but fruity and more saline, minerally and almost steely. But, I love this bottle for its curious nature.

Todd - in this thread, Maria José López de Heredia thought storing it for 10 years was ideal assuming proper storage fwiw:

Peter – this was $55 off a restaurant wine list. So pretty decent value.

Tasted my first Heredia wine last night, the 01 Reserva Bosconia.
Aromas and flavors of cherries and florals - pretty and delicate presentation. Powdery tannins in an otherwise light mouthfeel.
Very nice.

I didn’t notice any improvement over the course of a couple hours. (Cork was stained to the top when I opened it for pop and pour.)
I’ll get more of this for near term enjoyment but not to cellar.
