TN: 2000 Hudelot Noellat Clos Vougeot

I have had a few bottles of this that were a tad volatile. However, a recent bottle was off the chain.

2000 Hudelot Noellat Clos Vougeot
A gorgeous nose of darker red fruit with a core that is intense cherry. The earth just wraps and caresses. Flat out fabulous! The palate is full with a lingering red fruit and earthiness that are perfectly in balance. My only wish is for a little more acidity but picking nits. Very long finish and definitely Grand Cru. Awe inspiring for the vintage.

BTW, we used to get this for $50 and under. I hate to wish for the good ol’ days but this one really brings that home.

All the '00s were good deals, …when they came out…

Hudelot Noellat’s CV is one of the best examples, in my opinion - in spite of not having perhaps the most ideal location for all of its vines. A propos of Charlie Fu’s recent admonishment that finding a good CV is more than just looking at a map of the vineyard holdings.

Moreoever, H-N killed it in '00 - the CV, the Richebourg and RSV and the Vosne premier crus have all been stellar bottles over the last couple of years. Really, '98 on from this domaine is pretty much killer - an underrated producer, if that’s possible anymore.

Thanks for the note.
Recommendation for this list?(1-er cru maybe) will be there a thursday.Or price to expansive?

The Grand Crus are too expensive to me.
This is the going price however.
I LOVE Suchots from Hudelot. Anything less than $100 US is good. These are less than $100.

Thanks.Suchots is good, bought weeks ago Suchots from Confuron-Coetidot.

Sounds like a fantastic showing, Don, good to see!
