TN 2000 Ducru Beaucaillou

Like the 96, this is first growth in quality and an absolutely brilliant wine! Incredibly similar to the 96, but with just a little more heft. The nose will hold you captive and is one my favorite noses of all Bordeaux - amazing what this property produces. Stunning aromas of pencil, graphite, red fruit, stewed tomatoes, tobacco, and cinnamon. Honestly, the smell of this wine is borderline addicting. The palate is sheer class and elegance. A rich entry of cassis and sour cherry is followed by graphite, stewed tomatoes, wet stones, tobacco, and this delectable pencil finish. Magnificent! Medium bodied with perfect lift, the 2000 Ducru blankets every crevice in the oral cavity. As the great Patsy Cline so brilliantly sung - “I Fall to Pieces”, that is what this wine does to me. Just entering very early maturity now, this wine is mindblowing currently, but with plenty to go. 97+ Pts

Jamie, sounds like a killer bottle!! Will have to see how much these are going for…

Alex, you rock man. The 2000 is going for half the price of 2009, and 2009 is spoofulated. The 2000 closely resembles 1996 - a great vintage. I will not mention names, but well respected people commend the 96, and inturn 00. Cheers Man.

Sweet, I’m on it.
Cheers to you too dude!

Cheers bro, no need for response - we are all bound by wine ; you are ok my man. Cheers

Thanks for the interesting note. I tried one of these 6 months ago at an offline and liked it, but I thought it was much more closed that it seems in your note above. It is an excellent wine, but I thought it was at least 5-7 years away from even an early maturity.

Nothing like a delectable pencil! neener

1996 Ducru is an amazing wine! Nothing but positive things to say about the age worthiness, balance and overall complexity. Have not had the 2000 in about 5 years or so. At the time, recall it being big, clean and ripe up front, and over the span of a few hours it sadly got less appealing, more organic, sour, and pruney. Did your bottle maintain a consistent style through the span of the full bottle? I have another 2000 Ducru in the cellar and look forward to opening it, and see how it has evolved since last time.

Only if properly used… [snort.gif]
