TN: 2000 Château Talbot (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien)

Popped a few double zeros this weekend in honor of my oldest’s bday. This one was quite nice.

Decanted 2 hours. Rather tight aromatically, at first. With coaxing, a very serious nose of leather, spices, tobacco. Palate is surprisingly unctuous up front, a forward, dense and plummy fruit pops out. With time, the fruit mellows, and powdery, drying tannins come one. Real balance here that is a treat. Giving, but Still seemingly quite young. Really nice.

Excellent Dennis. Most of the 02 Bordeaux’s I have tasted are really starting to get into that early supple drinking window too.
Happy Birthday to your oldest.

I had the double naught Clos L’Oratoire and found it ready to go.

Thanks Don.
David-I saw your note on the Oratoire…not unlike my experience.
Very good early drinking.

I meant to say nice avatar, Dennis.

Thanks for the note on the '00 Talbot. I have three of these. It looks like I’ll let them sit for a little longer before opening the first. - Thanks!
