2000 Château du Tertre - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux (1/15/2010)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over approx. 1.5 hours –
NOSE: smoky BBQ at first; blackberries and some integrated oak; a bit earthy, but not funky; a hint of gray ashes; not complex; open and expressive.
BODY: garnet color of great depth with the slightest hint of age at the meniscus; medium bodied; lots of particulate matter present.
TASTE: lots of plum; some blackberry; some oak; hint of tobacco; hint of Bdx funk; this wine is just starting to taste aged, but it is a bit watery, the tannins are fully integrated, and there’s not much concentration of fruit, leading me to believe this might have a couple more years before peaking, but not a long life thereafter. As it is right now, it’s very well-balanced, open, and incredibly easy drinking; 13% alc. is not noticeable; medium-long finish; very pleasant.
B: 50, 5, 12, 16, 7 = (90 pts.)
