TN: 2000 Château Angelique de Monbousquet (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru)

    Took a sip of this wine at 60 minutes after opening. Nice nose. Mostly purple, with a hint of brown, that eventually disappeared. It was slightly tannic, which also disappeared as the evening went on. At 90 minutes, this was smooth and surprisingly silky, in an 87 type of way. At 120 minutes, the wine tasted cherryish, with a fruiter nose. At the 3 hour mark, no additional improvement. My guess is this wine should be enjoyed sooner rathher than later. We drank this with a strip steak bathed in homemade BBQ sauce. Was this a great wine, no. Was it more than acceptable, yes. Would I have been happy bringing this to an offline? No. This wine deserves to be drunk without other wines around. (87 pts.)

This was one of my lowest CT rated wines. I was anxious to drink it without anyone around (other than Janice). It was much more enjoyable than I expected.

I brought one of these with the case I traveled with out to Idaho this week. It’s on deck for tomorrow’s dinner. I drunk about 6 months ago was a nice little Bord - correct and tasty but not profound. Totally to expectations.

Night 2, much improvement. Much more silk when drinking.

Night 3, I’m really surprised that this still has long legs. It’s a smoothed out Night one.
If I had another bottle, I would suggest holding on for another year.
