TN: 2000 Betz Family Cabernet Sauvignon Père de Famille (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley)

  • 2000 Betz Family Cabernet Sauvignon Père de Famille - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (7/10/2009)
Just starting to have browning at the rim. Popped and poured, nose of lead, graphite, black cherry, cedar, and black currant. Smooth entry with soft tannins, integrated wood, and a medium plus finish. Well made Wa. Cabernet, but I like more recent vintages better. (89 pts.)

A shame is it now browning at the rim. I had the 2004 last year and it was absolutely superb.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good wine, and red-orange might be more accurate, but definitely showing age and aged nuances. FWIW, I think early Syrahs were built to last and Bob has made his most age-worthy Cabs from 2004 and on.
