TN: 2000 Baricci Brunello di Montalcino Colombaio di Montosoli

  • 2000 Baricci Brunello di Montalcino Colombaio di Montosoli - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (11/2/2009)
Still improving after an hour of air. Dust, baking bread, dried red fruits on the nose. Sour cherry, earth and iodine on the palate. Tannins and acid both clamp down a touch on the finish. Perhaps a touch rustic, could be fresher and more precise, but this has character and I like that. This isn’t a great wine but it is a good wine; it isn’t a great QPR but isn’t a bad deal; it is far from the pinnacle of Brunello but it has a lot of character and is an honest, enjoyable wine with personality, which goes a long way for me.
