2000 Arcadian Pinot Noir Francesca’s Cuvée- USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (12/13/2014#
Popped and poured. Medium ruby color. Fresh, piquant nose of pine forest, sea air, meaty red berry, anise, and earth. Waves of fresh red raspberry, iron filings, beef blood, stems, and mulberry breaking upon the tongue and expanding like the proverbial peacock’s tail. Bracing acidity and seriously aristocratic structure with fine-grained tannins. Long, reverberating finish of vibrant red fruit and iron grip. Ethereal and almost intellectual yet has that certain wildness of the central coast. Whoa baby. (94 pts.)
Did you just get that in the recent shipment or is it a holdover from prior years? Thats what I’m hoping after reading your note, sounds like one of the great ones. I’m picking up my package tomorrow at the FEDEX Store.
This was included in the latest release to the Grand Cru Society wine club (patience not one of my virtues). Thoroughly generous of Joe to make a fourteen year old wine available now!
Hope the wine (if you received some) shows well for you also. Really cool to acquire bottles that are literally ready to go. I was a bit worried about bottle shock but did not detect any.
Don,
That does sound different than what I tasted. That is a bummer indeed.
