2005 Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Riserva
Ruby in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has some cherries and bitter cherries. Medium bodied. On the palate, this is not showing a lot, perhaps it is tight but I don’t see much stuffing. Cherries. At $25 Ohio, this is not a wine I will be buying more of. OK, but there are lots better for less. 50+4+11+16+5=86
2005 Boccadigabbio Rosso Piceno
Purple/ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is earthy with cherries and some currants. Also has a nice smoked quality to it. Medium bodied. On the palate, this has plums, black raspberries and dark cherries with a bit of smoke. Nice and easy to drink. Serious backbone of acidity that demands some food. At $15 Ohio, good value. 50+4+12+16+6=88
2004 Terre Delle Falcole Chianti Classico Riserva
$24 Ohio. Cherry red in color. Lovely nose of cherries, slight earth and some tar. A bit of anise too. Medium bodied. On the palate, this has a nice complexity. Some tannins, seems like it will age well. Layered fruit and forest floor notes. Very nice wine. 50+4+12+17+6=89
