TN: 1999 Togni Cab

Popped and let sit in the glass for a while while we drank cocktails and then drank over 2 hours or so.

I would never have guessed this was a California wine if I tasted it blind. I would have been sure it was french. It had plenty of fruit, but some earthiness and still a fairly high acid level. It is just starting to show some secondary flavors. The fruit flavor that popped in my head was a dark plum. It has some green, as one might expect from a Togni, but it is an integrated green as opposed to a heavy green streak. The tannins were completely resolved at this point, although as we got towards the end of the bottle, there was some sludgy sentiment and they caused some grippiness on the palate at that point.

This wine can be drank now, but with the fruit and acid still strong, there is no rush at all.
