TN: 1999 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses

A generous friend shared this with me and my wife. All I can say is WOW! A beautiful and interesting wine. I can feel myself starting to get sucked into Burgundy…

Showed extremely well this day. Pop 'n pour - consumed over 1 hour without food. Nose was showing a hint of barnyard with earthy notes and was quite enjoyable. On the palate, gorgeous secondary fruit flavors with some earthy notes. Perfect balance with nice mouthfeel. Lithe and lively. This is probably at or close to peak now, but is in no danger of falling off. Beautiful wine. (93 pts.)

Nice note.
Bize makes some lovely SLB stuff.
All mine are young, or I’d be tearing into them more often.
This sounds quite nice. Cheers.

Just bought the 09 of this for $50.00 on Berserker day. the 99 sounds great.
