1999 Schramsberg Vineyards J Schram - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/16/2011)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 1 hour –
NOSE: expressive; nutty; a tad smoky; nice apple note; clearly defined.
BODY: medium-light bodied; golden yellow color of moderate-great intensity.
TASTE: crystalline pear and gaja apple flavors; a tad smoky; full palate; focused. Better than the 2001 vintage of the same. The best American sparkler I’ve had. Gut impression score: 92 - 94.
