TN: 1999 Miner Family Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard

An awesome wine. Put this next to the 2001 Arcadian Garys’ and this wins. Showing age in color, but vibrant fruit with balanced acidity. Very close after the 2003 Marcassin Marcassin as one of my favorite Pinots. Miner continues for me to be one of CA’s most under-rated quality wineries. Bought from WineBid for mid $30s. I’m just sorry there was only one, but I’m happy to have tried their earliest Garys’ if not their earliest Pinot, which was a 1997 Pisoni. (93 pts.)

For the benefit of Jason, RoboCop and Crissy who are forever reminding me of wines that I have had but don’t remember, it turns out that I HAVE had the 1997 Miner Pisoni Pinot… last year… so typical for me, I guess… 1997 Miner Family Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard, USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands - CellarTracker

Nice one. I saw Miner in the subject line and thought … Dr/VP Dietz.

As the Miner advocate you need to open some of them other reds for me. Oracle and whatnot.

I’ve also had both of those Miner PNs and my notes mirror yours, though both were consumed 1-2 years ago. Your post caused me to go back read my notes on the 99 and it struck me how similar the 07 Rosella’s “777” came across last month. Damn sexy stuff.

It’s hard to live with the Miner slut label on my forehead, but I’ve resigned myself to it… so… I can open an Oracle on Tuesday or Friday… Pick your day.

I haven’t had the 07 `777’, though it is home ready to be opened. The Rosella’s bottling is also superb in 2007. I went back and stocked up, including a mag. By the way, Miner has a sale going on for the top-of-the-line wines at 50% off… worth checking out the website if you didn’t know.

Thanks for the tip James. I’ve seen the email specials Miner has been running, but was unaware of the website specials. I may have to pull the trigger on one them. I’m happy to see Miner doing this. I’m sure it’s beneficial to their bottom line, but it makes me feel like they are passing along savings to their customer base during these down economic times. Yet another reason why I’d consider myself a Miner slut as well. Happy Holidays.
