TN: 1999 Maison Bertrand Ambroise Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains. This is a dreadful wine. A truck could not deliver this much raw wood. I went back and looked at Meadows’ review - sheer foolishness. I have slivers in my tongue which I am unable to remove. What a waste of raw material. I’ll never buy another bottle from this producer, and I have serious doubts about Meadow’s judge of wood at this point. At least its no longer taking up shelf space. Shit. [snort.gif] 60 points.

Yup; a producer who likes his oak.

Shockingly so. This wine will never improve. I am shocked how bad it is. I remember bringing a 93 Corton from this producer to an offline with similar results, but the producer was an unknown to me so I chocked it up to the bottle. Who buys this swill? And Meadow’s endorsements of this producer are pretty shocking to me. I’ve not had expectations shattered this way - in a wine - in years. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Not a producer I cellar. Guess I am lucky.

Thankfully, I just have a few. Simply bad wine-making, imho.

Allen has never struck me as an Ambroise fan.

Ok i can see he liked this wine when it was very young. Maybe bury them (or donate them).

Look at his scoring over various vintages, Maureen.

I may be more disappointed in my faith in Meadows than I am in the crap this producer is making.
