1999 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (6/29/2009)
Pop and poured, sampled over 3.5 hours. Impressive cut and complexity, not to mention the bouquet. Begins with dried flowers and crushed red fruits laid on a bed of minerals and rocks. There’s a vosne spice component, too. Grippy fruit is precise and tannins for a 10 year old Barolo are tame. Drinkable now, nowhere near peak.
How can you drink ANY wine after your food and wine festival over the course of 9 hours??
When he e-mailed me earlier that he was looking forward to tasting the Sandrones we picked up at Marty’s, I had no idea he meant tonight!
Thanks for the note, Peter. I won’t open mine for some time, but good to know I could if I wanted to!

I gave my liver a full 24 hours of recovery time - can it regenerate that quick?
Was this part of that close out sale? How much were these?
Ken - they were, I think either $69 or $79…
I got some of the 2001 Le Vigne for $64. I think Peter and others picked up several of the the 1999s for $69.
Both very good deals!
