TN: 1999 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

Dark opaque garnet with slight lightening at the edge. At opening, the anise on the nose was overpowering. As time went by, the anise receded to leave a nose dominated by tar, with roses, dark fruits, anise, and a hint of menthol and spices. Dark fruits, red fruits, cherry, and substantial tannins on the palate. A delicious wine that went very well with short ribs.

Thanks for the note. Was this a pop & pour?

Pretty close. I opened and decanted when I started cooking dinner. So it probably had about 45 mins to 1 hour in the decanter prior to serving.
