TN: 1999 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

1999 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/20/2016)
This is drinking beautifully right now. It’s in a mid-maturity phase, and while further development is likely, it would be a shame to miss the crystalline purity of the wine at this point in its evolution. Apple, lemon cream and puff pastry aromas are just the beginning, as spice and citrus zest elements emerge with air, and provide additional complexity. Moderate acids balance a mid weight palate presence, and result in a wine that is eminently drinkable, and in fact quaffable, which is a feat for Auslese (though no feat for Prum). Delicious.
