TN: 1999 Evesham Wood Cuvee J PN

Faint red clay nose, like what I played in growing up in South Carolina. All red cherry fruit. Nice finest of fine tannins. But the acids are all but overwhelming. Weird lack of balance because of that. If E-W wasn’t so traditionally ageworthy and 1999 wasn’t such a perfect vinatege for aging, I’d wonder if this wine was kind of over the hill. The goods outweigh the bads, but should I really need to take a Prilosec before I drink a bottle of wine? Disappointing.

Wow, too bad. Never had that one, but the '99 Seven Springs was rocking as recently as last year. Shows to me how special that site is, but the estate is no slouch. Disclosure - I idolize Russ and worked there in '05.

yeah too bad. With that vintage I would have thought there would still be plenty of stuffing to buffer the acid.

Downer- on paper I thought that WOOD have been rocking.

I’ve enjoyed a few 99’s that were eye opening of late. With special kudos to Soter’s Beacon Hill from that vintage.
