1999 Drouhin Morey St. Denis: Picked this up on the way home and had it with a nice little Pekin duck breast dinner. This was popped and poured. Great, youthful color. Smelled a bit funky but given how it came around a decant or some more time to breathe would have done this quite nicely. When it came around the fruit was still fresh, bright and sturdy enough that the funky undertone was easily kept in a place where it added to the wine. Nice wine and for the $40 price tag this was a bargain. Nice to get aged stuff on a whim for a dinner at home. Good times.
OK, I’ll bite. So where does one find a 99 Drouhin village wine off the shelf for $40, and why isn’t this place in Seattle?
Wizer’s in Lake Oswego. If you’re, we’ll, one of us you need to drop in. Piles of cool stuff that’s been well stored. Got a an 05 Serpentieres from Drouhin as well for 45. Lots of 10-20 year old Weinbach and ZH too. Good fun. They have a bunch of that MSD left.
