1999 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Tessons Clos de Mon Plaisir - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (7/25/2009)
I wrote this note over 3 years ago and it is amazingly still true. “3/27/2006 rated 94 points: This is to me , what white burgundy is all about. Impeccable balance, a long lingering finish and a long life ahead. it showed absolutely NO signs of oxidation and was a joy to drink. The wine showed impressive minerality, beautiful overtones of hazelnuts, and a slight citric quality on the finish. This was the first Roulot '99 that I opened and I will leave my others, especially the more famous vineyards to rest. I feel these wines will be long lived and have a very interesting journey to maturity. It was a perfect match to a lightly seared sea bass and I just wish I owned far more of this wine. Unfortunately, Roulot has become increasingly expensive and relatively hard to find. This wine was simply a joy to drink and got better and better in the glass over the course of the evening. The wine is still amazing with no signs of premox whatsoever. …rich, perfectly balanced hazel nut flavors with a citric backbone. The only difference is it was matched with perfectly seared day boat scallops rather than sea bass. Once again, impeccable. I still have not yet opened the “big boys” and as I opened this wine; I was slightly apprehensive that I had missed the boat…Not in the least; I am now willing to take the chance and let the others continue their uninterrupted slumber.

This wine is the reason I used to buy considerable amounts of white burgundy and a reason to possibly start buying again.
Cheers!
