TN: 1999 Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc (France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc)

These are always fun…never know what you’re going to get with an aged simple Bourgogne…except this is Leflaive! Nice golden yellow color with a little green glow…aromatically challenged…no sign of any ox…super! Pretty creamy feel…GREAT feel! Fresh pitted fruit, apple skin…vibrant and tangy with crushed rock and sour tart citrus. Has a mellow flow to it…with subtle flavors of honey and smoked hazelnut, dried apple rings, Captn Crunch cereal…the right amount of crisp floral citrus acidity through the finish. A simple sipper, with some aged complexity, Leflaive style! Like it! (92 pts.)

Mr Buzz, Leflaive’s Bourgogne can be fantastic for its level. I am down to my last bottle from a case of 96’s and save for an oxidised one they have been great. Even a 98 was delicious a couple of year’s back.

Thanks for the note.

Best Regards
Jeremy

Yes, thanks for the note. I can totally taste this wine – a little wax, a little honey, a little apple, a lotta love. Good stuff.

The only problem for me is storage cost for wines like this using offsite storage (kind of have to in NYC). I have strong disincentives to keep “little” wines, sadly.
