TN: 1999 Cims de Porrera Priorat Classic (Spain, Catalunya, Priorat)

  • 1999 Cims de Porrera Priorat Classic - Spain, Catalunya, Priorat (3/23/2012)
Very nice and worth the wait. Bought in my pre-CT days (before August 2005) so data is limited. Decanted and then enjoyed over 2 hours. Better after two hours. Deep tart red fruit with with still a bit of tanins. There is a background light citrus component that is almost like grapefruit. The finish is very long. There is a lot of sediment in this wine, so it needs a very careful decant and a screen would not hurt, although much of the sediment is very fine. (91 pts.)

Thanks for the note, Jay. I’ve a couple of these in my cellar. Looks like there’s no hurry to drink them.

No rush - I bought 6 and I still have 3 or 4 left. I am far from an expert on Prioriat, but my guess is that these are either at the begining of the plateau or not quite there yet.
