TN: 1999 Château Léoville Las Cases (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien)

  • 1999 Château Léoville Las Cases - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (3/17/2017)
Decanted about 90 minutes. Ok with my wine nerd hat on, I’d say this is a solid, mature left bank bordeaux. I do think the tannin is simply going to be too much for the rather understanded fruit to catch up to, so drink em sooner rather than later i’d guess. Ok, with the hat off, this was a lovely, classic Cabernet with great aromatics to enjoy with my better half on a rainy Saturday night watching the 2005 version of Bleak House. Oh this was $55 at Costco in 2002 a fair price for the wine actually in the bottle - the label however I’d chalk up as a steal when compared to current pricing. (91 pts.)

Hi Dale, the 1999 is not the greatest vintage… but at that price it is a steal
